Our Story

Green Soap Luxury was conceived through our belief in the healing properties of all-natural botanicals. Founded by two recent college graduates with expertise grounded in academic research and modern pragmatism, GSL offers a natural alternative to products laden with synthetic ingredients.

As part of a new generation of young soap makers, we've spent a considerable amount of time researching cultural and ancestral understandings of traditionally skin-valued botanicals and oils. Months of research and dedicated effort have helped us formulate a collection of soaps that we are confident in.

We hand-make our soaps in small batches, using the cold process method—a procedure involving the natural process of saponification, the chemical reaction (between fat and lye) that results in soaps with a high glycerin content. The naturally-occurring glycerin is an emollient that leaves skin feeling soft and moist; commercial soap brands often extract the valuable glycerin for use in lotions and other products. We leave it in.

Unlike many of our handmade soap competitors, our soaps are all-natural, without synthetic fragrances and/or colorants/dyes. We do NOT use micas or oxides to color our soaps—our soaps are, instead, aesthetically enhanced with natural botanicals and/or clays. Our soaps are scented with naturally-occurring essential oils extracted from botanicals. These botanicals and natural clays fortify the soaps with their own skin benefiting properties. Our uniquely modified cold process soaping method also ensures that our oils and ingredients are minimally heated to retain their skin-nourishing qualities.

We believe in our approach to natural soaping and in using beneficial herbs and clays and therapeutic essential oils (the very same oils used in aromatherapy for mind and body healing). We hope to earn your confidence.
